Full text noise word woes and angst

  • I hope someone can clarify this for me -

    I'm getting confused by noise words in a full-text search criteria - I wouldn't

expect (a bad word to use around a computer I know) noise words to be stripped

    from a phrase, but writing:

    CONTAINS(title,' "about company" ')

seems to bring back the same results as

    CONTAINS(title,' "company" ')

and a phrase with just noise words in it returns the "your search words were too common"

Am I going to have to remove "about" from the noise words list to solve this?

    Many thanks

    Jon

  • As well as removing "about" from the noise words list, I think you'll have to rebuild the FT catalogs.

While it's been in the noise words list, "about" has not been stored in the catalog, so a rebuild is necessary in order to populate it.
