Hi
With SQL 2016 Browser, in Advanced tab there is an Active Yes/No setting.
By default this is set to "No". Does this mean by default even though the service is running, the browser capability is turned off?
When I changed it to "Yes" the browser seems to function.
It seems a dumb thing to do, unless its some oversight by MS?
Thoughts welcome......

Yup...just watched it on the network and when you set it to no, the browser isn't listening even if the service is running.
Not sure why you'd want the service running but not have it listening. There is probably a reason, just can't think of one now.
