Look for articles or books by Itzik Ben-Gan. The books are better overall for training, although they will cost you a few dollars.
SQL DBA,SQL Server MVP(07, 08, 09) "It's a dog-eat-dog world, and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear." "Norm", on "Cheers". Also from "Cheers", from "Carla": "You need to know 3 things about Tortelli men: Tortelli men draw women like flies; Tortelli men treat women like flies; Tortelli men's brains are in their flies".

Perhaps start with the AdventureWorks sample database, and then extend it by modeling additional tables for Payroll or Invoicing.

T-SQL Fundamentals by Itzik Ben-Gan is now in it's 3rd edition. I've read the first edition once, the second edition multiple time and now I just started reading the 3rd edition. This book is the place to start for T-SQL skills.
