Hey all,
Have a public facing environment that we'll need to license by core for obvious reasons. This environment makes linked server calls to other instances for certain data sets. Question is, does that secondary server need to be licensed the same? It will already be covered for internal users via Server+CAL; however, would we be out of compliance for public facing access, even though it's only accessed via linked server for minor use?
Thanks

As with anything licensing, speak with Microsoft or you reseller and ensure you get it in writing.
But from my understanding, anything that can be accessed from the public domain must be core based due to you not knowing the user base
