Hello All,
I'm in the process of setting up AlwaysOn on a new cluster in one location and planning to replicate to another cluster in a location in another continent. The network team provided the same Windows Cluster Name (e.g. SQL2014.global.abcd.com) to be used for both SQL clusters in the spec.
Will this cause a conflict with AD, DNS, SQL Server, AlwaysOn, etc? Or will it still work? My apologies if I am not asking the question correctly since this is a first time setup for me. But I will try to clarify any further info required.
Thanks

If it's in the same domain, it won't work, they need to be unique.
Instead, stretch your Windows cluster over the 2 regions, so all nodes belong to the same Windows Cluster, providing geo-failover.

Cluster roles use a Client Access Point, in this all network names need to be unique, as do the IP addresses for each network name
