I have to connect to a sql server at the vendor who is in a different network.
What are my options ?

That depends. Is this just a single sql connection or do you need to do queries across both databases?

If this is not your network, it's probably not your decision. Talk to the vendor and ask them what they can provide.

OK so you need to be able to have access to the remote server. This typically means that the database will have to be exposed somewhere. It might be by IP or some other method. I suspect if it is a vendor they are not likely going to just open up their database like that. This kind of thing is generally exposed through services rather than direct connections to the remote server. Have you talked with your vendor? They surely have encountered this type of thing before and probably even have a solution in place.

They requested the IP of my server and is willing to open the database as readonly to us.

Sounds like they are using ipsec to secure it, in which case you could use a linked server set up on your server pointing to their server.

They have provided you with a login?
