I have been honored to be chosen a Microsoft SQL Server Most Valuable Professional (MVP). Here is a video on my reaction: I’m a Microsoft MVP and I feel great!
The Microsoft MVP Award is an annual award that recognizes exceptional technology community leaders around the world who actively share their high quality, real world expertise with users and Microsoft.
To be considered for the Microsoft MVP Award, nominees are reviewed by a panel of MVP team members and Microsoft product groups, who evaluate each nominee’s technical expertise and voluntary community contributions for the past 12 months. The panel considers the quality, quantity and impact of each nominee’s work before selecting the year’s winners. Nominees from around the world compete to win the Microsoft MVP Award.
There are only 315 SQL Sever MVP’s worldwide, about 100 that are in the United States.
Besides SQL Server, there are dozens of other areas that Microsoft awards MVP’s to (about 75 Microsoft technologies). There are about 4,000 MVP’s for all areas. The awards happen quarterly (January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, October 1st).
It took a lot of hard work over the past few years to achieve this goal of mine, and you can too by following my blogs Blueprint for consulting riches, How to become an expert in your field, and ABL: Always Be Learning.
Special thanks to Mark Tabladillo for nominating me, and Brent Ozar for helping me kick-start my blog career.
