How do you change the default database location in SQL 2014. I have tried changing in Database Settings but it will not save.

I changed this is setup, and it worked for me. (see pix)
I just changed this again, and it didn't appear to work. However what happens is that changing the location updates the registry, which isn't changed until you restart the instance.
If I restart, it works.

Thank you! I was hoping I wouldn't have to restart but after reading, it appears you do. It was nice in 2012, you could change the default location with no required restart.

You shouldn't need a restart. This is, IMHO, a flaw in SQL Server.
