SSRS 2016 Sample Reports

  • I know it has been asked before, but does anybody have SSRS 2016 Report samples for WideWorldImporters?

I am working on a SSRS report monitoring project and was hoping there were some .rdl's we can import that would work against the new sample database rather than writing a set.

Just looking to do a proof of concept so ideal a variety of command types and parameters to see how we can capture and save report baselines and stats.

    Thanks so much.

And there you are again 🙂
I don't think they are out yet - if they ever do get them out. But you don't really need that to get the basics of what was requested. I would guess that's related to the request for the Performance Report of the reports and a baseline.
Too many things can affect performance and it can vary from report to report. You can create some of your own generic reports, doesn't matter what they do really since you just want baseline and performance reports. Those pieces you will generally get from the one thing that I mentioned is documented and is supported to query. Take a look at the view ExecutionLog3. Just any reports running will allow you to setup how you are going to gather the statistics, measure the baseline, etc. There are a few different components that get measured and that's one area to pay attention to. Here is a link to a description of the view:
Report Server ExecutionLog and the ExecutionLog3 View

I don't want to give you too much info since the requests are really a good way to start digging into monitoring SSRS. Get somewhere (development environment, your PC, whatever) where you will be able to start running some things to find the information you need. Create a bunch of reports, a few different subscriptions and then start trying to find that information you have been requested to get based on what all you have created. That also gives you a bit of understanding on the development side as well.
Good luck with all of this - it actually seems like it would be fun.

  • Hello Sue,

Yeah I was just looking for a quick set of fake reports so I can test the various ways I plan to Monitor.  My boss has extended the deadline to Friday to have a design and proto type so Just cracking back on with it today.  Once the team stand up the 2016 new environment and we move some real databases and reports over we will create a proper baseline.  My interest right now is in understanding what information I can snag from the ReportServer database.  I peddle the morning away on some escalated support tickets to warm up the bran and clear the desk for the week, so head back on it today.

    Such a fun project.
