Maintenance plan notify operator issue

    Hi all,

    I have a bit of a strange problem with a notify operator task configured within a maintenance plan, where the notify task doesn't appear to work.

    I have set up database mail, operators, set to use both public and private profiles etc... I have sent a database mail test email successfully, and also set a SQL agent job notification email using one of the operators which sends as expected. So it appears as though the configuration is correct for database mail and the operators.

    However, I don't receive any email for the maintenance plan for either a fail or success when it runs, I have used this maintenance plan (backup MP) for over 60 servers but this is the first time that I have used it on SQL 2014.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Firstly, I strongly recommend changing from Maintenance Plans to Ola Hallengren's Maintenance Solutions[/url], much better.

    Have you tried to send mail from the troubled server? Do you capture any send mail attempts in a log file?

    Looking at the logs I can see entries for when the agent job has sent mail, but there is nothing for the MP at all... its just as if it hasn't even tried!
