Full Text Indexing build very slow

  • HI,

We are creating a full text index in the document table, which is using filestream to store doc or pdf files. the filestream size is about 150GB, the full index population took way long. It started about 2 weeks ago, but still not finished.

The fdhost.exe is using only 1-2% CPU and 20MB ram. The server have 14GB ram and I set the max server memory to 8GB.

The full text index is using "auto change tracking".

    Any help?

    Thanks

That's an awfully underpowered machine for what you have it doing.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
