Finally.... SQL Saturday has come back to... South Carolina!  (with apologies to The Rock)

After the last SQL Saturday in Columbia, Bobby Dimmick (blog | twitter) and I decided to step back and see if somewhere else near us wanted to host a SQL Saturday. Charleston, SC has taken up the challenge and will host a SQL Saturday the weekend before the 2013 PASS Summit. That's right, beautiful, historic Charleston, SC, will be the site for SQL Saturday #227.

If you're coming to the PASS Summit (or even if you aren't), consider coming a few days early and hitting the SQL Saturday in Charleston. Not only are there excellent speakers already signed up, but the Call of Speakers is still open, meaning as more folks finalize their plans, they'll likely submit as well. If you're a speaker giving a talk to the PASS Summit, Charleston represents one last change to practice that talk and apply some polish. If you're not speaking at the Summit, this represents another opportunity to submit and hopefully speak, something I'll be doing shortly.

Whether you're coming to attend or coming to speak, Charleston is a great city to visit (and to live in). If you can make it in before about lunch time on Friday, you can catch an afternoon dress parade at The Citadel, my alma mater. On any given day you can walk its campus or the campus of College of Charleston, one of the oldest institutions in the USA. You can visit the beaches which are nearby. You can take a carriage ride tour of Charleston, one of the oldest cities in the Unted States and, unlike many Southern cities of that era, one virtually untouched by the Civil War. You can head over to Patriot's Point and tour the Yorktown. And that's just scratching the surface.

So please consider stopping over in Charleston, attending the SQL Saturday there, and seeing the sights!
