Hi There,
I'm not DBA, I just someone who relies on SQL Server a fair bit as a back-end to MS products such as System Center. I'm looking to upgrade a SQL instance from SQL Server 2012 SP1 to SQL Server 2012 SP3, the instance is hosted on a VM. My idiot question is: Is it possible/supported to rollback a failed or problematic SQL upgrade by taking a VM level snapshot/checkpoint and reverting back to it?
Cheers
C

This should be fine but preferably no activity should take place in the databases during the upgrade.

Yeah, the application which uses the DB will be off also so there shouldn't be any activity during or after.
Thanks for the reply.

the SP3 patch can also be removed via add\remove programs
