Hi All,
We are seeing intermittent communication link failures for sql jobs and we have to re-run the jobs once again.
Also, some of our team suspecting its a TCP Chimney offload issue.
What is the concept behind TCP chimney offload how it is related to job failure's.
Can anybody explain what does it mean in simple terms and why it might cause connection drops?
Thanks,
-Sam

Best to follow https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/942861 and http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mssqlisv/archive/2008/05/27/sql-server-intermittent-connectivity-issue.aspx
Communication link failures have a variety causes, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/search?query=communication%20link%20failure. A pair of network sniffs can be required, and no less than one has to be collected. Also check the concurrent SQL Server errorlog for other messages, such as Sql Server handling an exception at the time of the communication link failure, or SQL Server raising additional connectivity errors (at least as an independent confirmation).
