Rename sql server default instance name

    Hi,

    We have a default sql server instance on server SERVER A.

    Now, we changed the server name to SERVER B and SQL server instance is NOT starting.

    What steps should I perform to rename the SQL Server instance to SERVER B?

    In the error log, it still looking for SERVER A.

    What are the exact errors you are seeing in your errorlog when SQL tries to start?

    Nothing should have been necessary. What's the exact errors?
