I have an SSRS 2008 Report. I have the overwright dataset & overwritedata sources properties set to True. I have rebuilt both the single shared dataset & single shared data source and I have re-deployed them. I am still not getting current data in the report. What am I doing wrong ? I am a newbie to the SSRS world so be patient with me please.

Have you tried refreshing the dataset? Sometimes in Visual Studio 2005 the report will preview with the data the dataset picked up the last time it was refreshed, and I have to manually refresh the dataset to get up-to-date data. I'm not sure if 2008 has the same issue.

When you say refresh data set, what am I to do to refresh it ? I opened it up and re-ran the query, but I do not see a place to refresh it.

In Visual Studio 2005, you right-click on "Report Datasets" on the Data tab and select Refresh. In 2008, the refresh option seems to have moved into the Dataset properties and is called "Refresh fields." Again, I'm not sure the refresh function has the same function in 2008, but I have fixed the symptoms you describe in 2005 by refreshing the dataset.

I looked in 2008 where you said. Clicked on properties for the Data Set and don't see a refresh on both the Report Data or the Solution Explorer. Any other ideas ?

In 2008, in the Dataset properties, you should see options down the left for Query, Fields, Options, Filters, etc. Select Query, and near the lower right is a "Refresh Fields" button.
