Hello,
Server is restarted as part of maintainence activities and after that on one instance sql server agent is not starting up. When I add the account to admin group agent service is starting. On the same server for other instance agent has started up with out issues.
I cannot add the account to admin groups as per rules in my company.
Please suggest me some options.
Thanks,
Kalpana

Here are the exact rights needed for the account that starts the agent: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178142.aspx
Other than that, you can start it with the System account or Network account, if that is possible in your setup.

If you specify your service account in SQL Server Configuration Manager (instead of in the Services applet), the correct permissions will be assigned. I don't know how they suddenly got lost. But it may work if you change the account to something else, then change it back to your current service account.
