When posting a URL to a forum post from this site, the site reformats the link to be the name of the topic. Great. BUT, the reformatted URL has two problems:
For example:
The title of that post contains the BBCode for using a code block, and the URL that I entered in here ends with "#post-3019739", yet that is not part of the reformatted link.

I will try pasting in a URL to the 2nd post in that topic (well, based on post_id it is not the first, but somehow it's timestamp got messed up and now it sorts as being first). So maybe the anchor is removed if it points to the first post since that is really the same as not having the anchor there. We will find out in a moment 😉

Replying and linking to Ben's post here: https://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/topic/sql-formatting-codesql-does-not-work-which-tag-should-be-used#post-2919345
Also using text for a link

Seems to work for me. Not sure what you are doing that loses this, but please post a repro if you can.

All I did was post the URL, nothing more...I did not use a formatted link...neither via button bar or manually entered BBCode for "url=" tag. I just pasted the http://... URL. That is why what I posted in the original message here (which is still stored correctly in the DB as I can see the full URL with the bookmark/anchor at the end) gets converted automatically into the title of the post. I did not type anything related to "SQL formatting {incorrectly processed BBCode appearing as a box} does not work, which tag should be used." That text in the initial post above is the system automatically converting my bare URL into the topic title. StackOverflow / StackExhcnage does the same thing for intra-site links. So, my repro was posted in that first message above.
Take care, Solomon..

Posting a link as a test. This is pasted in without using any bbcode or buttons. The link came from a browser URL bar.

OK, that's the repro. Bug filed.

Just to clear: I was not recommending to disable the auto-rewriting of the URL into the topic title (it currently appears to be disabled), just that the auto-rewriting should not remove the anchor text. That and it should not process BBCode.

It was easiest to not rewrite. I personally think that's better as this isn't the thread, but a post.
