I recently was involved in a situation on a large database where the error log was simply not logging for over a week. In the past I've seen that behavior with resource issues. There were not trace flags in place that would have turned off logging for over a week. Any ideas on where to look to determine why this occurred?

No the SQL Server Error Logs. Skipped a week before it started logging again.

I meant, perhaps the windows logs (eventvwr) mentions why it couldn't write to the error logs.

No, not any indications why it couldn't write.
