I'm having trouble installing CU13 for SQL 2008 R2 SP2. I get the following error message:
"A SQL Server update with a higher version has already been installed on SQL Server Instance aaa, so the current SQL Server update cannot be applied. The version of SQL Server update that is already installed is GDR 10.52.4033.0(10.52.4321.0) with a KBKB2977320 and the current SQL Server update is 10.52.4319.0 with a KBKB2967540."
I did confirm that KB2977320 is installed on the machine, but its a security update.
The setup discovery report lists that instance version as Product=2008 R2 and Version =10.52.4033.0.
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion') returns 10.50.4033.0

Quick question, why not go straight for SP3?

SP3 has a reported issue with the report builder. I'm not sure at this time if that would effect us, but I don't want to take the chance since I would have to deal with a work around rather than a fix for the issue

I resolved the issue by uninstalling the GDR KB2977320, then installing the CU. The server currently has KB2977319 installed appears to be the QFE version of the same security update. Can anyone confirm this? I did some reading up on the difference and found that QFE are quick fixes and GDR are general distribution. From what I read, it sounds like though GDR' s are preferable, QFE's get the job done.
