SQL Server for SCOM

  • Hi Experts,

We are planning to have HADR solution for SCOM. Which one we should go for 2 Node Active-Passive Cluster or Always On?

    Please advise.

    TIA

  • By AlwaysOn, do you mean availability groups? Alwayson includes both failover clusters and availability groups.

Since system center comes with SQL Server Standard license and that is the license you are using, your only option is to use Failover cluster as availability group are only supported with Enterprise.

If you are going to use an Enterprise instance then I think you should choose he HA solution you are most comfortable with.

    Thanks Robert that really helps.

  • I do have to point out that if using the SQL Server license that comes with SCOM, that SQL Server instance cannot be used for anything else.
