Hi Chaps
My last post was several years ago - apologies, I'm not a regular poster!
I'm just looking for some info on what you get with an MDSN subscription.
I've got SQL Server2005 with SSIS/SSRS/SSAS installed on my laptop, I installed this several years ago when I borrowed the disks off my emp[loyter at the time.
Everything's there, including the tutorials.
I'm getting a new machine and I'm also going to get an MSDN subscription so I can keep up as I'm hoping to freelance with SSIS etc.
Does anyone know whats the closest I could get to creating a BI development environment with MSDN downloads?
I'm assuming it'd have to be SQL Server Express as the DBMS, or is there a more suitable version to download?
Is it possible to download SSDT from MSDN, or any iuseful variations on SSIS/SSRS/SSAS?
I've had a look at the following MSDN page, but I'm not sure that you need a fully liscenced copy of SQL Server initially for it to work?
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt674919.aspx
Any advice appreciated.
In cluding the correct forum to post this on, if applicable! 🙂
Thanks
Don

Microsoft have just recently announced that SQL 2014 and SQL 2016 when it is released will allow use of the developer edition of SQL Server completely free.
Developer edition is functionally equivalent to Enterprise Edition, so allows use of all of the product's features.
You can access this by signing up for a Visual Studio Developer Essentials membership. I think you should be able to find everything you need there, as there is access to a number of development resources.
