I cannot open Microsoft Access files.

    I cannot open Microsoft Access files. It gives me a message of: Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Access XP Professional. This flashes across in a dialoge box, the computer whirrs and nothing changes. The file does not open. This happens when I try to open Access itself or when I click on an existing Access file.

    Can you tell us a little bit more about what you are trying to do, on what and with what? Not enough information here in order to provide a meaningful answer.

    Specifically, what version of Windows are you running, and do you have other versions of Access installed? You should be aware that AccessXP is a 13-year old product, so support for it is limited.
