Hi
Is there an advantage of running SQL 2012 Ent on Windows Server 2012 R2 vs Windows 2008 R2?
Thanks

Would it make a difference that our severs are all virtual in our VMWare enviroment?

I don't think so, as we would have the same configuration (cluster across VMs). However, since SQL 2014 is now RTM I might see if we can jump to that.

Apart from the vastly improved SMB process which impacts network IO and any Named Pipes processing, the improved IO process, the ability to turn Core mode on and off, and if you use Hyper-V the much improved performance with vhdx files in W2012 and W2012R2, not a lot.
