I work for medium scale company. The company is growing so the IT needs are growing.
We are team of 2 DBA's and we have ticketing system which we use for database related requests and change deployments.
As the company is growing our day to day tasks have been increased, what is the best way to divide work among us ?
we both try to get on top of things but at times I feel like it is not very productive.
I am assuming someone might have ran into this situation. Any suggestions would be helpful

At one of my previous jobs we simply alternated who watched the queue on a daily basis. That way the work got spread around fairly evenly (obviously there were days were more came in than others, but it tended to average out). This also had the advantage that the rest of us got to be heads down focused on getting things done, rather than having constant interruptions. We took it one step further and had the "watcher" DBA hang a flag from their desk, so that anyone who had an urgent issue that needed work knew who to talk to. It was a really simple solution but it worked brilliantly.

What are the typical daily tasks you get? Are they development related, are they administration tasks?
Typically what I've prefered is that for development related tasks whoever developed it(or inherited it) is responsible for it.

We rotate each week who the DBA on Call is. That person does the requests and is the one called for after hours issues. If that person gets flooded then they will ask the other DBA for assistance. That way one person is always free to go to meetings, monitor things and be generally available.
