SSMS 2014 evaluation expiry

  • I installed SQL Server 2014 CTP2 on my workstation last July. In August we purchased an Enterprise Edition license. I installed the licensed version on my workstation. The database engine and other services seemed to upgrade OK but apparently the client tools did not. This week I went to start SSMS 2014 and got the pop up message that my evaluation version has expired, and SSMS will not open.

I have tried reinstalling the client tools from the licensed media but that doesn't work. Does anyone know how to get SSMS updated without completely uninstalling all versions of SQL Server 2014 from my workstation and reinstalling 2014?

    Thanks

    Tim

  • Hi,

    I had the thame error.

With sqlmcd I could connect to the Server without any error message but the SSMS throws me the same like you.

After registry hack an reinstall the SSMS, we dropped the whole SQL Stuff from the Server and run a fresh installation.

For us, this was the best workaround.

    Dirty but it works
