SQL Server 2014 installation problem

  • Hello, Everybody.

Please, help with the SQL 2014 installation. It's passing Global Rules up to the "Consistency Validation for SQL Server registry keys" and staying there forever not moving further.

I have SQL Server 2008R2 Enterprise and SQL Server 2012 installed on the same computer and I did the installation with no problems. It's MacBooks Pro with parallel desktop, Win 8.1 Pro, I allocated 12 Gb RAM and 256 Gb hard drive to the parallel desktop.

    Thanks

  • You might try running Process Explorer or Process monitor during the install process. These are sysinternals tools built by a Microsoft employee. The tools will trace what is happening on the computer while the install is occurring. This should help you see what is happening when the installation GUI appears to hang.

  • Thank you for your response, lmarkum. I'll definitely do this when I'll try to install SQL 2014 again. However, I needed this for a very special thing that was to run reports from Navision in Visual Studio that should have BI to do this. For VS 2013 I needed to install BI Tool on SQL 2014. But, I could not even install SQL 2014. I was in a complete frustration for a few days as I couldn't move forward on my Navision projects. So, I had to solve it asap. I had already SQL 2012 Express so I installed VS 2012 and then BI Tool for the VS 2012 on top of the SQL 2012 and it was all successful. So, to that my goal it was solved. I'm not moving to SQL 2014 for now, probably later. But, thank you very much as I'll use your advice later.
