System Health Check ups

  • Please let me know how to check the server health check ups. When we right click on the instance I am seeing some options Policies (Health States), Facets, Deploy Data-Tier Applications. What are the benefits of those. If any one knows please explain.

    Thanks in Advance

  • None of those is anything to do with a server's overall health. SQL Server doesn't really have such a thing built in. But, the closest you can get to it is to right click on the instance and choose 'Activity Monitor'. That will show you what is currently occurring within the system, to a degree, at a high level.

To really learn how to diagnose your system and it's status, I'd suggest starting with the book Troubleshooting SQL Server[/url]. You can download a copy for free or purchase a paper copy.
