How to restart sql browser service from my desktop to a remote server?

  • How to restart sql browser service from my desktop to a remote server?

    Thanks.

  • why would you need to do this? the only way would be to RDP to the machine and restart the service

  • sysinternals psexec can do it, so you could issue the net stop mssqlserver command against a remote server, but under what circmstances would you need to bounce the service?

your not bouncing the service because you think it fixes something, are you?

    Lowell
