login failure for non existing login

    Hi,

    the person installed sql server and reanamed the sa login. the login no longer exists but the error log is flooded with the message Login failed for user 'sa'. Reason: Could not find a login matching the name provided.

    apart from running a trace is there any other method to find the source.

    Is the client IP address not part of the error in the SQL Log?

    just because the login does not exist does not mean people / an application won't be trying to log in using it..
