Feedback on PDW

  • We are looking to scaleout ( archiving is not on table for now due to various reasons, i know would save lot of money and time), after briefly looking at cost of HW,OS and SQL licensing and VMWare, we thought why not go with PDW?

I would like to get some feedback from folks who have already used it, and would also like to know how much would it cost for an entry level. Thanks

  • What should be your target/goal to be reach if you go with PDW?

What are your actual problems with sql server in scaleout that you're thinking about a PDW?

  • Last I heard, no less than 1-2 million dollars, and that doesn't include the code changes you'll need for the PDW, the training, the re-design of the DB to handle the PDW architecture, etc.

Why are you looking to scale out? What problems are you running into?
