I have to say that I have become proud as I now feel part of the SSC community. So much so that I get different senses of anticipation depending on whose post I am about to read. It is not only familiarity of the frequent posters either. If I don't recognise the moniker then I am curious to hear what a new, to me at least, poster has to say.

I didn't build most of the software running this site, but I do think that SQLServerCentral as a total entity is the thing I'm most proud of. I'm not sure if my fellow founders, Andy Warren and Brian Knight, feel the same way, but I'm quite pleased that I've been able to help many SQL Server professionals get better at their jobs.
Not sure how they feel about it ???
Personally, I'd say that SQLServerCentral is the best online SQL Server forum and community.

I would second that. I have yet to visit ANY technical forum, in the broader sense of the word, where people are so friendly, passionate, helpful and outspoken. Yes, outspoken. This is a forum that is driven by the editorial team but powered by its community. I don't mean that in a way that diminishes the efforts of the SSC team but more in terms of a platform has been provided and is actively encouraged to be this way.
If I was from a few centuries ago I might even have cried aloud "Hazaar!!!".

Thanks, Steve, for the history reference point. I think it's good to ensure that more people are reminded of the origins of Labor Day.

I completely agree with Eric and Gary. I think that this is, quite simply, the best SQL Server forum I've ever seen. I think the people, discussion, openness to new ideas and encouragement to do things right are what make it that way.
In fact, I don't post on any other forums. Steve, your work on this site is very much appreciated.

I too appreciate the high quality of SSC and the community that drives it. Thank you all.
There are several software products that I have significantly contributed to that I am very proud of: a diagnostic medical analyzer, a point-of-sale system and an enterprise manufacturing intelligence system. I spent a good chunk of my career on these efforts and it is very satisfying to see that they have helped improve and even save people's lives.

With that in mind, I'd like you to stop and think for a minute about the things you build or work on. Think of something that you are proud of having worked on. I hope that you have a few fond memories of work that has gone well in your career.
There are many things, for me, that fit this bill. Not all are necessarily work related - but there are quite a few projects or work opportunities that have been very pleasing. It's always great to get a 36hr cursor re-factored into a 45 second query. Or to build a better ETL flow that logs and handles exceptions better so you don't have to fix and troubleshoot every day.
