Hello SQL peeps,
I installed SQL 08R2 SP2 last week on about 20 servers however one did not update. (All where being updated from SQL 08R2 SP1)
The install ran just fine, all 5 times, but it did not update the server on restart, shut down, power off and on. I did the normal @@version and it never updated. Has anyone else seen this, before I call MS?
Many Thanks,
😎

Maybee, before calling MS look at logs from update? Post logs, maybe someone then will be able to help.

I can't find anything in the logs. I looked at the log in the temp DIR under my user account and the log file under bootstrap\log\folder date n time\detail.txt -- nothing that indicates the update failed, no error no nothing, very stange...

Is it a clustered server? Is it possible the instance was on a different node?

So now you should review the log files, find an issue and resolve it.

If it says failed to update shared features, this is more like BIDS and Management studio right? Should not be as much of a problem?
What is the version number of your instance?
