Absolutely fantastic of course!
You regular readers know that the Becoming a DBA area of the blog is one of the most visited and talked about, with the professional development posts often proving popular. All the comments, questions and emails you guys send tells me that there’s a lot of interest in the community about what it is that DBAs do exactly.
We’re all the Same, Just Different
I find this to be one of the most interesting aspects about our careers. Sure we have similar job titles to one another but what we actually do in our day to day roles is often very diverse. I don’t know about you but one of the things I enjoy the most about attending community events is finding out what other data professionals are up to.
This got me thinking wouldn’t it be great to be able to share this colourful diversity with you and the visitors that are considering a career in our profession! With this in mind, the blog post series theme “A Day in the Life of a DBA/Developer” was born unto the world.
A Chance to Share Your Story
For the very first time in the history of this blog I’m handing the virtual pen over to the you, the SQL community. Over the coming weeks guest bloggers will be sharing their own unique stories and advice here. If you would like to share your story or advice for the up and coming DBA with the community, simply submit a draft post adhering to the following outline:
- How did you get started?
- Describe what a typical day is like for you.
- What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a DBA/DB Developer?
I’m tremendously excited about this, for the privilege to share your stories and experiences! I’m delighted to be able to play host to some of my all time favourite SQL community bloggers. Subscribe to the blog feed to make sure you don’t miss out on a single post.
