Decimal vs Numeric

  • hi,

What is the difference between these two data types?

I have read like, we have these two for backward compatibility. What does it means? These two are available since sql server 6.5, Then what is the backward compatibility here?

    🙂

  • No difference. One is synonym for the other, cant remember which one.

  • In SQL Server, there is no difference.

I guess the backward compatability would be that you can still use "numeric" rather than the offical "decimal".
