SQL Installation on D drive

  • I have installed SQL server 2012 on one server and changed the default path to d: drive still some files has been created in C: drive Microsoft SQL Server folder Why?

I want the complete installation on D: drive.

Please suggest me if any one know...

    Thanks in advance

  • SQL has to install some things on the C drive to integrate with the OS, but the majority of the main important binaries will be on the D drive.

  • Thank you antony.,....Thank you very much for your information..

The same i found in the following link

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143547.aspx

  • this is because some components are loaded at boot time. Logically, the only drive that is absolutely online during boot is the C drive 😉

  • AFAIk, some of the files are required to be installed on system Drive. thats why I think, even though we change the path, you will still see some files on C drive

    Hope it Helps!!
