Hi guys,
I'm currently studying for the 70-462 exam using the Administering Microsoft® SQL Sever® 2012 Databases. i have been through the study material and exam questions.
Do you guys know know where I can download practice exam for free? I just want to test my SQL Server 2012 knowledge before I take the official exam.
Thanks

The free ones are usually brain dumps and as per the NDA use of brain dumps is considered cheating, if you get caught you will have all existing certification removed and not be able to take cert exams again.
Now that being said, the best ones in my opinion are Measure Up and Transcender, yes they are pricey, but at least you know they dont break the NDA, and I take the investment as improving my career.

I don't recommend MeasureUp for that exam. They took their old practice exam for 70-432 (SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance), replaced the text "2008" with "2012" in the questions and shamelessly sell the result as a brand new exam for SQL Server 2012! So as you can imagine none of the new features (AlwaysOn, FileTables, Contained databases...) are covered and some of the questions are not relevant for the new exam...

Measure Up provides the sample questions that come with the exam Training Kit series of books. These 150 to 200 sample questions are a good complement to the book content.
Like the books, they are written without their seeing the exam. Like the books, they would benefit from a good technical edit. The error rate is between 3% and 5%. I hope the actual exams are better, but there is no way to know.
I think your best bet to pass an exam is a combination of
- 1+ year experience in the exam area
- careful study of something like the relevant Training Kit guide from Microsoft Press
- careful practice with sample exam questions. None of them will be on the actual exam, but the questions are a different perspective on the same topic.
The exam is not a measure of intelligence, but rather knowledge. The cram approach does not work well because the topic area is too large.
This is based on my experience with 70-461, 70-462, and 70-463.

I'd recommend the Kaplan tests. No matter what people say about certain practice tests being "just like the test", it's not always that great an investment. Kaplan has questions that are actually harder than the test, but they also help you prepare overall for what you need to know. Their practice mode will tell you why you didn't get a question right. Skillport is also very effective. The courses may seem time consuming and unecessary at first, but they cover a lot in detail.
About the one year experience thing; there's some truth to it. However it is often the case that you can have years of experience with SQL server, and never have touched what they will cover in the test. It's all about how you solve problems and your overall understanding of the subject material (which is why MSDN/Books online articles are great places to study too).
In short, here's what I recommend:
1. Kaplan Practice tests
2. Skillsoft practice tests
3. Skillsoft learning modules,
4. MSDN/Books Online articles
