Hi All,
I worked only as Support Engineer for a BI project . Now I got a chance to work as a SQL/ETL developer . I will have to work on SQL Server 2012 and MDM..
Could someone pls help me understanding this MDM..How Data Quality Services and MDM are related as I am finding it difficult to visualize the relationship between them . Also how do you identify the master data .
I tried googling those, they said all nouns are Master Data . But pls help me with a very good example..

In simple: DQS is for cleaning data, MDS is for storing the master data.
They can be used together, but they can also operate alone just fine.
Master Data is typically what you also find in the dimensions of your data warehouse: employee information, customer information and so on.
It is usually quite static information and it doesn't keep history (unlike dimensions).
The one thing you mustn't store in MDS is transactional data, ie data about a transaction, such as when did a customer buy something, what did the customer buy et cetera.
Need an answer? No, you need a question
