Hello,
I am currently using SQL Server Reporting Services 2012. I have a few subscriptions emails that i have created. A few days ago, i discovered these weren't working and were giving me the status: Failure sending mail. The report server has encountered a configuration error. Mail will not be sent.
If i attempt to create a subscription and send out an email, i get the same error.
Our administrator has not touched anything and suddenly email reports have stopped working.
To configure the emails i followed the following instructions:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159155.aspx#bkmk_use_configuration_manager
I have checked the log details and cannot see anything glaringly obvious. Has anyone encountered this error and how have you resolved it.
Thanks

We had a similar problem. The first fix was to restart the SQL Server services on the report server. However the problem would randomly happen again after a month or so. We went to MS for some help, turned on verbose logging, and they told us it was a problem between the report server and the mail server and they had us configure the report server to be its own SMTP server and that provided a long term solution.

How did you configure report server to be its own smtp server? Was this a case of altering your config file?
