    Hi,

    I am new to the SQL Server. I am trying to take baseline. I saw some videos and took some counters but I didn't see saving option to CSV or Excel. Please let me know how can I save that data collector set into CSV file in windows8 client version to compare with the profiler. Please help me any one knows.

    I just choose the grid for the output then click in the upper left corner and copy the results and paste them into Excel. But not if there are millions of rows....

    I'm assuming we're talking Performance Monitor. The best way to collect the data is not to use the GUI that lets you look through the data. Instead, in the GUI, just below where it says Monitoring Tools on the left, you'll see "Data Collector Sets." This is what you want. Expand the folder and you'll see "User Defined." Right click on that, select New, Data Collector Set. Then, you can create from a template or create a custom collection. You can define this as going out to CSV files.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I am able to create a user defined data collector from a template or create a custom collection but I am not able define this as going out to CSV files. I didn't see any option to send to the CSV file. If you have scree shot please share with me that will help me lot.

    The third screen in asks where you want to save the data on your disk. That's it. It says, right at the top "Where would you like the data to be saved?"
