    How can i restore a 2008 R2 Database on a SQL2012 server?

    The same way as you do it on sql server 2008 r2.

    So i have to first upgrade the instance to 2012, i thought there's a new better way.

    You can also install a separate named instance of sql server 2012, though.

    Can you also detach\attach mdf and ldf from 2008 to 2012 instead?
