Good morning everyone,
Looking for some advice regarding tools for installation on a Windows Server 2008R2 environment.
The purpose of the server is going to be used for ETL using SSIS.
We can create and deploy to production.
So far we have asked for the following to be installed on the production Server 2008R2 box:
1). 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components for Ms Excel
2). Zip tool to be used for archives (7zip||WinZip)
3). File System Task (Konesans)
Are there any other tools that might be needed to handle different type of files and or processing.
I'm searching to see what else I can find.
thanks,
Marshall

One tool that I use extensively in my ETL development is "V", a file viewer (http://www.fileviewer.com/) by Charles Prineas. It has the capability to view (but not edit) files of any size. You can also define and save column layouts in it. I bring in a lot of very large flat files, and this tool has proven to be very useful for analysis.
CSVEd (http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/) by Sam Francke has also proven useful in cases where CSV files that I receive which have been manually created by the data provider have had their columns in the wrong order from prior batches. CSVEd can re-order the columns, and is also a useful viewer/editor for any kind of character-delimited data.
