We had an active-passive cluster, but it was unnecessary. So we would like to re-use one of the hosts. Our server group has already evicted the passive host. I'd like to uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 on it and re-install.
First thing I notice is that Technet says "To remove a node from an existing SQL Server failover cluster, you must run SQL Server Setup on the node that is to be removed from the SQL Server failover cluster instance."
That step was not taken.
When I start an uninstall on the evicted node, I notice that its Instance ID is MSSQL10_50.CLUSTERNAME.
Is there any harm that may come to the cluster if I proceed with the uninstall?

If you evicted the node from the cluster then flatten it totally and re deploy the OS would be the best recommendation
