Upgradation of sql server

  • is there any issues to upgrade sql server from 2000 to 2008 ?

and what is the better way to upgrade from 2000 to 2008 ?

and can we restore system databases of sql server 2000 to 2008 and system databse of sql 2005 to 2008 ?

  • Run the upgrade advisor.

There's no simple/easy way to answer this. There can be issues, or the upgrade may go fine.

I'd recommend side by side upgrade rather than in place, but that's me.

  • Direct upgradation of sql 200 to 2008 or 2008 R2 is not pssible, first you have to upgare to 2005 and then to 2008.

  • That's not true.

First, upgradation isn't an English word. It's merely an upgrade, or upgrading to SQL Server 2008.

Second, upgrades from SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2008 are supported to SQL Server 2008
