Hi Team,
We have SQL Server 2008 active-passive cluster. We got requirement to upgrade it SQL Server 2008 R2.
Can you please let me know the procedure ?

What operating system is the cluster using Windows 2003 or Windows 2008?

64 or 32 bit (OS, SQL)? Just upgrading SQL Server or hardware/OS upgrades as well?
Personally I'd upgrade 1 instance at a time side by side (Generally)...
1. Setup new 2008 R2 cluster group with a generic server name and the same instance name.
2. Copy all the databases to the new instance.
3. Turn off old cluster group and re-use the IP/name on the new group.
4. Cross fingers and turn new group on with old IP and name.
5. If any issues turn the old one back on.
(assuming there's enough hardware for another cluster group)
I don't like in-place upgrades... too scary.. 😛

Just Fail your active resources over to your passive node and upgrade that instance. then Fail back and upgrade your passive node.
