Hi,
We are using sql server management studio 2008. After installing management studio to each computer if we want to change settings,we have to do it manually. It is little inconvenience. Is there any way to automate settings or is there any configuration file that we can copy after each new installation? please help
Thank you

Thanks for reply
I think "Import and Export Settings" not present in management studio 2008 And even in management studio 2012 i doubt all settings are importing. I have tried to import new settings but after opening of management studio old settings seems to be retaining
And where will be settings file located?

Oh sorry, I didn't notice this was in the 2008 area of the forum, it works for 2012.
Ok, you could try exporting the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell
Then importing that on the other machines. You can see all the settings that are configured in there.

I don't think importing KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell working. Don't know about other settings but it certainly not working for edit top n rows and select top n rows settings

Importing KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell registry changes only some settings like tools->option->designers.Other settings like tools->option->sql server object explorer not changing.. where is the registry for those changes?
Thank you
We are using sql server management studio 2008 express edition. Is that makes any difference?
