PREEMPTIVE_OS_WRITEFILEGATHER & LOGBUFFER

  • Hi Experts,

I am getting the wait_type as PREEMPTIVE_OS_WRITEFILEGATHER & LOGBUFFER when executing a particular job.

The job finds data older than 3 years and then move them to another table.

What action i should take to avoid these wait types.

Do you know if you are experiencing a large number of log file autogrowths during the same period? Are you ever shrinking the transaction log file after it autogrows?
