Data file Autogrowth question

  • I have a client who typo's a auto growth parameter on a data file to grow by 32000%. I want to change it to 10%. Will it require a restart of the service?

    Thanks.

  • No. Autogrow can be changed anytime, on either data or log, and will be used the next time the file grows dynamically.

But I suggest using a fixed amount instead of a %. As the file grows, the % becomes larger and larger, and that can be an issue later.

  • Good point. Thanks.
