Hi all,
I have successfully created a DB mail profile.
However , when i try to send a test-mail, i get a message as follows :
The test mail has been queued for processing. Depending on n/w speed bla bla ... But when i check the db mail log , i see that the operation has failed with the below error :
The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2012-05-18T12:10:35). Exception Message: Could not connect to mail server. (No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 172.17.24.128:25).
I guess this is because of some mistake in the server adress or the port. The adress i have provided is that of my outlook excahnge server as the email id provided is my outlook id. Port number was the default 25.
Also, this is an Exress with advanced features 2008 r2 server installed on the local machine.
Thanks in advance 🙂

anti virus blocking mass mail worms? or databasemail.exe?
firewall blocking port 25?
authentication issues?
SMTP server not set to allow you to send SMTP mail? (in exchange, you need to add the sending servers IP address in 2 locations in the SMTP settings to allow it to say yes you can send mail)

make sure your smtp server doesnt require any kind of extra authentication and the account you used has the permission to send email.

Make sure the smtp port is open & you have proper permission to the exchange server
