Update stats-Performance

  • Hi,

just wondering, will running update stats on db slow down all other activity happening on the same db?

I have searched in google fully, cant find .I am searching for a proof for the that.

Kindly share your thoughts on this.

    Thanks

  • It can affect the other processes, yes. No process you run is free of cost. Doing a scanned update of statistics is fairly low cost, and usually you can run this without issue. A full scan of statistics is higher cost, but you'll get higher accuracy.
